ART is not a sticker to pretty the lock. It is the rating many insurers demand after theft. Two stars for an ordinary city bike, three or four for e-bike and cargo. Your policy counts, not a forum and not what the till called ‘ART’.
Fit counts for the insurer
An ART lock without the right fit is nothing to the insurer. Shackle or chain through the frame and around a fixed object. Front wheel only, or only the ring lock in the frame, is a refusal at claim time.
After a cut: a lock the policy accepts
We bring ART chains, U-locks and ring locks. After opening your old lock — which often had no valid ART left, or was already cut — we fit something the policy accepts. A photo of the policy line helps.
ART 2 on an Urban Arrow is unwise
ART 2 is lighter and cheaper. On an Urban Arrow in De Pijp that is unwise. We do not push 4 stars if 3 is enough; we also do not let you take 2 if your policy wants 3.
Fake ART exists
Fake ART exists. We do not sell it. If we have to open the lock later, we want the real cylinder.
