Buy a bike lock in Amsterdam

• AXA lockAXA Defender, Imenso, Solid. The Dutch ring lock — fitted, not in a bag.
• ring lockThrough the rear fork, fixed to the frame. The Dutch default.
• chain lockThrough the frame and around the pole. What stays put in Amsterdam.
• U-lockU-lock through fork and pole. Stubborn, heavy, exactly what thieves hate.
• folding lockFolds on the frame, tight around a pole. Only if the hinges are real.
• ART lockWhat your insurer demands. Two, three or four stars — we say what fits.
• e-bike lockBattery locked, frame locked, pole locked. Three points, or the e-bike is gone.
• disc lockThrough the scooter or motorcycle disc. Small, hard, only the lock may lose.
• padlockDiscus or shackle, on a chain or gate. Not a suitcase lock from the petrol station.
• cable lockOnly as extra, never as the only lock in Amsterdam. We say that straight.
• combination lockNo key, a code you will not forget. Only if the cylinder is real.
